I was born and grew up in Cradley Heath in the Black Country, before moving to Bromsgrove in Worcesterhire, where I now live and have my studio I am a mainly self taught artist and have drawn for as long as I can remember. I am a member of The Wildlife Art Society International (TWASI), The Association of Animal Artists and Worcester Society of Artists.
I was awarded a Silver citation for my work titled 'Clouded Leopard' by The Wildlife Art society International in 2018.
I am a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of The Year 2021, and also in 2019.
I am an invitational artist in the Sketch For Survival Exhibition and auction, raising funds for wildlife conservation.
I feature as a resident artist at Nature in Art, Twigworth, Gloucestershire.
Visiting Kenya back in 1985 left an indelible mark on me, the scenery, the people and especially the wildlife has inspired a lasting love of the natural world. When my subject matter is of African origin I find myself transported back there and can almost smell that African air. Over the years other encounters have fueled my enthusiasm, the most recent with humpback whales while visiting California. I am passionate about trying to capture the beauty, majesty and diversity of our natural world and hope to transport the viewer of my art to the places I am envisaging.
I work in most mediums but predominantly in Graphite pencil on Hot press cotton paper and Acrylic paint on stretched canvas. My drawing and paintings take days, weeks, sometimes months to produce, I rarely produce just one piece of work at a time, I feel this keeps the work fresh, as it gives me the opportunity to move to alternate works, then I keep coming back with a new eye.
Work is available as Originals (Please contact me for availability and price) and limited edition prints (available through the website shop), which provide a more affordable way to own art that is not mass produced. Limited edition prints are guaranteed not to exceed the edition size.
Conservation is close to my heart, I am a member of various wildlife conservation organisations and donate work to help raise funds.
My work is available to view and buy at The Jinney Ring Craft Centre in Hanbury, Worcestershire and at Artyfacts, in Bromsgrove. I also show at exhibitions both locally and Nationally.
I run drawing workshops and I am available for demonstrations.
I am happy to discuss any commissions, should you want a unique art work of your wildlife animal or pet.
